DPL AI Hackathon 2025 Culminates in a Fierce Finale, Crowns Top 5 Innovators
The DPL AI Hackathon 2025 concluded with a competitive final round, marking the completion of an 8-week AI learning quest launched in September.
Open to DPL Rebels in both technical and non-technical functions, the program was designed to build practical AI skills through structured learning, weekly evaluations, and a concluding hackathon challenge. Each week concluded with a mentor-reviewed, 10-minute demo.
“AI isn’t just reshaping technology; it’s reshaping the way every team works,” commented DPL COO Waleed Baqir Riaz. “Whether you write code or create business strategy, AI has become a core capability for modern IT. And with that in mind, we wanted to equip all teams with the necessary knowledge to tap into AI’s capabilities, unlocking faster decisions and smarter products.”
The hackathon took place on 22–23 November 2025, featuring two structured days of activities.
Day 1 included speeches from DPL’s leadership, followed by expert insights, project allocation, and more than seven hours of product development. Teams were given the task of creating an AI-powered learning and development platform, featuring personalized learning paths, AI-generated content, and gamification opportunities.

Day 2 centered around final presentations, followed by jury insights and closing acknowledgements. In addition to Waleed Baqir, Dr. Muhammad Murtaza Khan joined as one of the event’s judges. The Chief Innovation Officer at Sybrid Pvt. Ltd. & ICE Animations, Dr. M. Murtaza has been in charge of innovative projects and the adoption of AI tools across his organization.
Following a very challenging assessment, Team ‘Fantastic Four’ secured first place and was awarded a PKR 200,000 cash prize. The team comprises three Rebels: Salman Naseer, Salman Haider, and Rohaan Ahmed.
The remaining top teams demonstrated strong performance in artificial intelligence application and problem-solving, winning a variety of prizes ranging from cash rewards to nGAGE points.
Second Place: Bug Bounty
Third Place: HyperHive
Fourth Place: ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️

“This hackathon reflects the culture we’re shaping: one where innovation is encouraged, curiosity is rewarded, and AI becomes a skill shared across every team,” emphasized DPL’s CEO Syed Ahmad. “That’s how we build a company prepared for the future, not just reacting to it.”
