DPL’s Toastmasters Club Celebrates 200th Milestone Session

DPL’s Toastmasters International club, Rebel Speakers, has successfully conducted its 200th session, marking a major milestone in the organization’s commitment to professional development, leadership growth, and effective communication.

Founded as an internal learning initiative under the mentorship of Nauman Faridi, Rebel Speakers was created to empower DPL team members with the confidence and skills needed to communicate clearly and collaborate more effectively.

Over the course of 200 sessions, the club has evolved into a vibrant community where professionals come together to practice public speaking, refine leadership styles, and support each other’s growth in a constructive environment.

Rebel Speakers is one of the corporate clubs in the network of the globally recognized Toastmasters International program. The global nonprofit educational organization helps individuals develop public speaking, communication, and leadership skills through a structured, learn-by-doing program.

With clubs in more than 140 countries, the program provides a supportive environment where members practice prepared speeches, take on meeting leadership roles, and receive constructive evaluations. Its proven curriculum, including the Pathways learning experience, enables participants to build confidence, think critically, and communicate effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, DPL’s CEO, Syed Ahmad said, “The 200th session is not just a numerical achievement. Rather it is a reflection of consistency, collaboration, and a culture that values learning. Whenever I get to attend, I truly enjoy seeing Rebels discovering their voice, strengthening their presence, and stepping into leadership roles with clarity and purpose.”

The club’s founder and mentor Nauman also acknowledged the dedication of members who have served as mentors, officers, and evaluators, ensuring that the club continues to uphold the high standards of the Toastmasters program while aligning with DPL’s core values.

“When we started Rebel Speakers, the goal wasn’t just to create better speakers; it was to build confident leaders who could express ideas with clarity, courage, and purpose,” he explained. “The passion and dedication of our mentors, officers, and evaluators have kept the true spirit of Toastmasters alive while reflecting DPL’s core values. This 200th session belongs to every member who made it possible.”

Joining the session as a guest was Joveria Shafiq. A professional with international experience across the UK and Pakistan, she has extensively worked in Artificial Intelligence, policy, and strategy. She also contributed to government research at Pakistan’s Ministry of Planning and participated in UN-level policy dialogue.

As Rebel Speakers celebrates this milestone, the club looks ahead with renewed energy to expand participation, introduce innovative meeting formats, and further integrate communication excellence into DPL’s professional ecosystem.

With 200 sessions behind it and many more ahead, DPL Rebel Speakers remains a cornerstone of DPL’s people-first culture. For more information about the club and DPL’s culture, click here.
